Coupe or flute: which is the better choice?
The 20 cl flute holds on to the bubbles longer because the surface is small. The 47.5 cl coupe releases the aroma faster but also loses its fizz sooner. For a toast, choose the flute; for a cocktail with a garnish, the coupe.
How full do you pour a 47.5 cl coupe?
To about a third, so around fifteen centilitres. Fill it further and the wine will slosh over the rim at every movement, because the bowl is wide and shallow. The space above it also catches the scent.
Can the Walker glasses go in the dishwasher?
Yes, provided they stand apart in the rack. A wide coupe tips easily and a narrow flute snaps at the stem if it leans against another glass. Drying with linen removes the water marks from the broad bowl.
Is Walker made of crystal glass?
No, it is pressed soda-lime glass without lead. That makes the wall a little sturdier than crystal, so the glasses stand up better to daily use. The trade-off is that they refract less light than a fine-walled crystal glass.
