How many cl is a shot in the Netherlands?
In the Netherlands a shot is usually 3.5 cl. Many cocktail recipes work with 2 or 5 cl, and British recipes with 25 or 50 ml. So always check which measure your recipe or house standard calls for.
Is a pour measure dishwasher safe?
Not always. Heat can make the rubber seal expand, so the valve no longer closes and the measure starts to drip. Better to rinse it through with warm water every shift and soak the parts loose once a week.
What is the difference between a pour measure and a jigger?
A pour measure sits on the bottle and delivers the quantity while you pour. A jigger is a separate measuring cup that you fill first and then empty. The pour measure is faster, the jigger more flexible when measures vary.
Why does my pour measure drip?
Usually there is syrup or liqueur residue in the mechanism, so the valve no longer closes fully. Take the measure apart, let the parts soak in warm water and then check that the seal still springs back smoothly.
