What do you use a 72 cl mixing glass for?
A mixing glass is meant for stirring cocktails that should not be shaken, such as a martini or a negroni. The generous capacity holds ice and spirit together, so you can stir without anything going over the rim.
How long should you stir a cocktail?
Thirty to forty turns along the wall is a good guideline. Stop as soon as the outside of the glass mists over: that means the drink is around zero degrees and has taken up enough meltwater to drink smoothly.
Does residue get left behind in the facets?
No. The facets are formed during blowing in the mould rather than cut in afterwards, so there are no sharp grooves. The surface stays smooth enough to come clean in the dishwasher.
What is a double old fashioned glass?
It is a low tumbler with a heavy base and a capacity around 35 cl, so roughly double that of a classic old fashioned glass. The room is meant for one large block of ice with the drink around it.
