How many cl should a latte macchiato glass be?
At least 34 centilitres, because a full latte macchiato consists of a three-centilitre espresso plus roughly twenty centilitres of milk and foam. Most places pour into 36 to 38 cl.
Is a double-walled glass better for latte macchiato?
A double-walled glass has a layer of air between two walls, stays cool on the outside and keeps the drink hot longer. Single-walled glass is thicker and sturdier and better able to cope with daily use in a busy cafe.
Why do my layers run into each other?
Usually because the espresso is poured too fast or the glass is too wide. Pour the shot slowly over the back of a spoon, and choose a glass roughly twice as tall as it is wide.
Can boiling milk go in without the glass cracking?
Tempered glass handles the temperature jump; ordinary glass does not always. Warm the glass in advance with hot water, certainly in winter. That prevents cracking and keeps the top layer of foam standing better too.
