What is the difference between Colibri and Columba?
Colibri is the more slender range, with a pronounced curve in the bowl, in 45 and 65 cl. Columba is cleaner and straighter in line and runs from 40 to 50 cl, which makes it better suited as a glass for both white and red wine.
Can Bohemia crystal go in the dishwasher?
It can, on a short programme at a low temperature, with the glasses standing upright and apart in the rack. Washing by hand in lukewarm water stays safer, because a large difference in temperature is the main cause of cracks in crystal.
Which size glass should you choose for red wine?
The 65 cl Colibri gives a full-bodied red enough air to open up. For lighter reds the 50 cl Columba is plenty. In both cases, pour up to the widest point and no higher, so about a third full.
Why does the stem of a crystal glass break so easily?
Usually not from a fall but from a twisting motion while drying: holding the foot and turning the bowl puts all the force on the thinnest point. When washing and drying, always hold the bowl instead of the foot.
