Which Savoie size suits red wine?
The 35 cl bowl is the only size in the series with enough volume for red wine. Fill it to about a third and you keep room to swirl, and the aroma stays above the wine.
Why are these glasses supplied by the dozen?
The smaller sizes are hospitality models and are therefore packed in twelves, the way cafes buy them. The largest 35 cl bowl comes in sixes, because it is less often needed in big numbers.
Is the Savoie made of crystal glass?
No, the Savoie is made of plain clear glass. That makes the bowl a little thicker and the foot less fragile than crystal glass, which is exactly why the glass survives daily use in bistros.
How do I prevent limescale marks on these wine glasses?
Rinse with clean water after washing and let the glasses drain upside down on a cloth rather than leaving them to dry on their own. A dull haze is almost always limescale and comes off with a splash of vinegar in the rinsing water.
