What does Grand Cépage actually mean?
Cépage is French for grape variety. The range divides its glasses not by colour but by what the grape asks of a bowl, so a cabernet and a chardonnay each get their own shape.
Which glass do I choose for cabernet or syrah?
The 47 cl bowl. It is wide enough to bring air to the wine, which makes firm tannin come across softer. Give the wine a few minutes in the glass before you start.
Is the 35 cl bowl suitable for chardonnay?
For fresh, aromatic white wine such as sauvignon and riesling, yes. A full, oak-aged chardonnay shows better in a wider bowl, because that brings more air to the wine.
Why is the 24 cl flute so roomy?
A narrow flute holds on to the bubbles but lets little aroma through. This size is a compromise: tall enough for the bubbles, wide enough to catch the scent of the champagne as well.
