What is the difference between a coupe and a Nick and Nora?
A coupe is wide and shallow, a Nick and Nora narrow and deep. That smaller surface keeps the drink in a Nick and Nora cold for longer and lets less alcohol evaporate. The coupe shows off foam and garnish better.
How much do you pour into a 22 cl coupe?
About 12 to 15 cl, so up to a centimetre below the rim. A coupe has a wide opening, so filling it further means spilling the moment you hand the glass over or slide it across the bar.
Why does the Novecento have vertical ribbing?
The pattern comes from the art deco glassware of the 1930s, where ribbed bowls were standard. In practice it also gives grip on the stem and refracts the light, which makes the drink look fuller.
Are the coupes dishwasher-safe?
Yes, the range is dishwasher-safe. Do place the coupes clear of each other and choose a low-temperature programme. The rim is thin, and that is where damage happens while loading.
