Glenfiddich Fire & Cane
Peated and unpeated Glenfiddich brought together and finished in Latin American rum casks. Gentle smoke, caramel and caramelized sugar: the most approachable way to taste smoke.

Smoke from Speyside, sweetness from rum casks
Fire & Cane comes from the Experimental Series, the range in which Glenfiddich's malt master shares his experiments. It is a marriage of peated and unpeated Glenfiddich, both matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks. The whisky then receives a finish in Latin American rum casks, which add an extra layer of sweet caramel.
That makes it the only bottle in the core range with smoke. But this is not a heavy Islay: the peat is gentle and balanced by apple, wood and the sweetness of the rum. At 43%, it is slightly stronger than the classic 40% age statements. It has no age statement; this is about the combination of smoke and rum cask.
In brief
Gentle smoke with caramel
Campfire & apple
A gentle smoky note, like a campfire in the distance, with fresh apple and sweet caramel underneath.
Sweet and smoky
The rum casks provide sweetness and caramelized sugar; the peat remains present but is never overpowering.
Wood and smoke
A medium-length finish with oak and a final hint of smoke that gently fades away.
Tasting profile of Glenfiddich Fire & Cane neat. Smokier than any other Glenfiddich, but much milder than an Islay whisky.
How to drink Fire & Cane
Smoke and sweetness call for a little attention. Neat is the best introduction, but in a Penicillin it shows why it exists.
Neat, for those who want to explore smoke
Pour 3 cl into a tulip-shaped glass and don't nose too deeply: the peat sits on top, with apple and caramel underneath. A few drops of water soften the smoke.
Glass: tasting glass →Like a Penicillin
Shake 50 ml Fire & Cane, 20 ml lemon juice, 20 ml honey syrup, and a few slices of fresh ginger with ice, then strain over a large ice cube in a tumbler. The smoke is already built in, so no separate float is needed.

40 ml Fire & Cane with 120 ml ice-cold sparkling water in a long drink glass filled with ice, garnished with an apple slice. Light, dry, and with a surprising smoky note.

Rusty Nail
Scotch and Drambuie over ice. Sweet, spicy, and with a hint of peat.
Smoky Old Fashioned
Whisky, sugar, and bitters. The rum casks make it sweet, while the peat adds smokiness.More Glenfiddich flavors
