What is Glenfiddich 18 Years?

Sherry and bourbon in balance

Glenfiddich 18 Years is the oldest bottle in the core range. It matures for years in two types of casks: Spanish oak that held Oloroso sherry and traditional bourbon casks made of American oak. The Spanish wood gives sweetness and sherry notes, the American oak gives vanilla and structure, and the two keep each other in balance.

Where the 12 Years is fresh and pear-like, the 18 is round and soft, with baked apple, cinnamon and oak. The finish is long and dry. It is the same 40% as the 12 and the Solera 15, so you don't need to add water to make it approachable. This is a whisky for connoisseurs and for anyone with something to celebrate.

In Spanish oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry and in traditional American oak bourbon casks. Together, they provide sweetness, sherry notes, vanilla and oak.
What is the difference between Glenfiddich 15 and 18?
The Solera 15 goes through a solera vat and is warm and full-bodied, with honey, marzipan and sherry. The 18 is matured for three years longer, is rounder and softer, with clear sherry notes, baked apple and a long, dry finish.
