Chivas Regal Mizunara
Scotch whisky with a Japanese twist. Partly matured in mizunara oak casks, creating a blend with pear, white peach and orange, and a spicy cedarwood finish. Beautiful neat, even better as a highball.

A Scot aged in Japanese oak
Mizunara is a rare Japanese oak species. Japanese whisky makers use the wood to give their whisky a distinctive, lightly spicy character, with notes of cedarwood. Chivas Regal was inspired by this tradition and matured part of this blend in mizunara casks. The whisky was originally developed for the Japanese market.
Under the Japanese wood, it is simply Chivas: a Scotch blend from Speyside at 40% ABV. The difference from the 12 Years lies in the finish. While the 12 tastes of honey and apple, the Mizunara is fruitier and fresher, with pear, orange and white peach, and finishes with more spice.

Tasting profile of Chivas Regal Mizunara neat. In a highball, the fruit and spices become fresher.
The Japanese way: highball
In Japan, whisky is often enjoyed long, with ice and soda water. For a whisky that nods to Japanese oak, that makes perfect sense.
Mizunara highball
Fill a tall glass to the brim with ice, pour in 40 ml Mizunara, and stir until the glass is cold. Top up with 120 ml ice-cold soda and stir once more. Finish with a lemon zest.
