What is Tanqueray No. Ten?

Why No. Ten tastes different

Tanqueray No. Ten starts with the same four botanicals as the London Dry: juniper, coriander, angelica and licorice. The difference lies in what is added. This gin is distilled in small batches with fresh citrus fruits, namely limes, oranges and pink grapefruit, along with chamomile flowers. This takes place in a small still called Tiny Ten, which is where the bottle gets its name.

The result is a gin that smells fresher and more floral than the London Dry, while the juniper moves into the background and only really appears in the finish. At 47.3%, it is also clearly higher than the 43.1% of the standard bottle. That higher ABV provides body and keeps the citrus standing out in a Martini, where no soft drink carries the flavor.

This gin is all about citrus and freshness. Keep everything ice-cold and garnish with grapefruit instead of lemon.

Everything about Tanqueray →
What percentage of alcohol is in Tanqueray No. Ten?
Tanqueray No. Ten contains 47.3% alcohol. That is considerably more than the London Dry (43.1%) and the flavoured varieties Flor de Sevilla, Rangpur and Blackcurrant Royale (41.3%).
What is the difference between Tanqueray and Tanqueray No. Ten?
The London Dry has four botanicals and is dry and juniper-forward. No. Ten uses the same four, plus fresh lime, orange, pink grapefruit and chamomile flowers, and is made in small batches. It is fresher, more floral and stronger.
Is Tanqueray No. Ten good for a Martini?
Yes, that is exactly what it is intended for. The brand recommends it with dry vermouth and a touch of pink grapefruit. The high ABV gives the Martini body.
Which garnish goes well with Tanqueray No. Ten?
Pink grapefruit, as a wedge in a gin and tonic or as a strip of peel on the Martini. Lime works too. Leave out herbs and cucumber: they overpower the chamomile.
How many calories are in Tanqueray No. Ten?
Approximately 265 kcal per 100 ml. A Martini with 6 cl of gin comes to around 160 kcal, plus the vermouth.
