What is Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla?

Orange from Seville, juniper from London

Flor de Sevilla is a flavored gin from Tanqueray. Its base is the London Dry recipe, with the four core botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica root and licorice. To this is added the flavor of oranges from Seville, the bitter orange variety also known from marmalade.

The idea is balance: the bittersweet orange brings fruitiness, while the coriander and juniper keep it spicy and dry. So you can still clearly taste the gin, but with a Mediterranean character. At 41.3%, it is slightly lower in alcohol than the London Dry, which makes it smoother in a long drink.

Everything about Tanqueray →
What percentage of alcohol does Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla contain?
Flor de Sevilla contains 41.3% alcohol, just like Rangpur and Blackcurrant Royale. The London Dry is 43.1%.
Is Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla a liqueur?
No. It is a flavoured gin: the London Dry with the flavour of Seville orange. It is fruitier than regular gin, but much less sweet than an orange liqueur and still 41.3%.
What is the difference compared with the regular Tanqueray?
The botanicals are the same: juniper, coriander, angelica and liquorice. Flor de Sevilla also contains bitter-sweet Seville orange, and at 41.3% it is slightly lower in alcohol.
Which tonic and garnish go well with Flor de Sevilla?
A premium tonic with ice and a wedge of orange. A Mediterranean tonic also works well. Leave out the lime and cucumber; they clash with the orange.
Can you use Flor de Sevilla in a Negroni?
Yes. The orange complements the Campari and sweet vermouth well. It makes the Negroni slightly fruitier and smoother than with the London Dry.
