Angostura Gran Añejo 7
Angostura makes not only bitters but also rum. This blend aged for at least seven years in American oak and tastes of dark chocolate, tiramisu and roasted sugar.

The bitters house's rum
Angostura is known worldwide for its bitters bottle with the oversized label, but the company also makes rum in Trinidad. Gran Añejo 7 is distilled by Trinidad Distillers in Laventille and is a blend of different rums, all of which have spent at least seven years in American oak barrels.
Those seven years give it a dark color and a rounded, dessert-like flavor profile: dark chocolate, tiramisu and roasted sugar. It is 40% ABV. That makes it a rum you can drink neat or over ice, but it is also robust enough for classic rum cocktails. And of course, a dash of Angostura goes well with it.
In brief
Chocolate, tiramisu and roasted sugar
Dark chocolate
Dark chocolate and roasted sugar, with the warmth of oak.
Tiramisu
Round and slightly sweet, with hints of coffee, cocoa and cream: the tiramisu the description refers to.
Caramel and oak
A warm finish with roasted sugar and a light woody note.
Tasting profile of Angostura Gran Añejo 7 neat. With ice, it becomes fresher and the chocolate comes through a little more.
Three ways to drink Gran Añejo 7
A seven-year-old rum works both ways: quietly in a glass, or as a dark base in a tiki or rum classic.
Neat in a tasting glass
4 cl at room temperature in a tulip-shaped glass. Let it sit for a moment: the chocolate and tiramisu then emerge more clearly from the alcohol.
