What is Lillet Rosé?

Lillet's summer color

Lillet Rosé is the youngest of the three colors and was launched in 2011. Whereas Blanc is based on white Bordeaux wine, Rosé combines red and white Bordeaux wines, complemented by fruit infusions and plant extracts. The idea is the same as with the original from 1872: wine as a base, citrus and a slight bitterness for freshness.

In the glass, it is lighter and fruitier than its siblings. You smell berries, orange blossom and grapefruit, and the taste stays fresh and juicy. That's why this is the Lillet for a spritz: with tonic and summer fruit, or with a splash of sparkling wine. It also works straight and ice-cold as a light aperitif before a meal.

How to drink it

Three ways to serve Lillet Rosé

Rosé calls for cold, ice and fruit. With tonic, with bubbles or straight from the fridge.

Lillet Spritz

50 ml Lillet Rosé and 100 ml tonic in a large wine glass filled with ice, with a few halved strawberries and a mint leaf. The best-known way to drink it.

Glass: large wine glass →

With sparkling wine

30 ml chilled Lillet Rosé in a coupe, topped up with 90 ml dry sparkling wine. More festive than the spritz, with the red fruit shining through the bubbles.

Coupes →

Straight over ice

60 ml Lillet Rosé from the fridge over a few ice cubes, with a wedge of grapefruit. A light aperitif to serve alongside a plate of olives.

Everything about Lillet →
What percentage of alcohol does Lillet Rosé contain?
Lillet Rosé contains 17% alcohol, just like Lillet Blanc and Lillet Rouge. In a spritz with two parts tonic, this comes to approximately 6%.
What is the difference between Lillet Rosé and Lillet Blanc?
Blanc is made from white Bordeaux and tastes of honey and orange. Rosé combines red and white wine and is fruitier, with berries, orange blossom and grapefruit. Most people choose Rosé for the spritz and Blanc for the Vesper Martini.
How do you make a Lillet Spritz?
Fill a large wine glass with ice, pour in 50 ml of Lillet Rosé and 100 ml of tonic, and garnish with strawberries and optionally mint. Prosecco is not needed.
Is Lillet Rosé a wine?
It is a wine aperitif: red and white Bordeaux wine with fruit infusions and plant extracts, at 17% alcohol. This puts it between wine and liqueur, in the same family as vermouth.
How many calories does Lillet Rosé contain?
Lillet Rosé contains approximately 121 kcal and 6.8 grams of sugar per 100 ml. A Lillet Spritz with 50 ml of Rosé therefore contains around 60 kcal, plus whatever the tonic adds.
