Glen Talloch 8 Years Blended Malt
A Glen Talloch without grain whisky. Only single malts from three Scottish regions, matured in cask for at least eight years, with heather honey and fruit. Fuller than the regular blend, and a great stepping stone to single malt.

One hundred percent malt, no grain whisky
Glen Talloch 8 Years Blended Malt is made exclusively from single malt whiskies from the Highlands, Lowlands and Speyside. Every whisky in the bottle has matured in cask for at least eight years. It contains no grain whisky, and that is precisely what distinguishes a blended malt from a regular blend. In the past, this type of whisky was also known as a vatted malt.
The standard Glen Talloch consists of seventy percent light grain whisky; here, everything is malt. That gives it more body, more grain and more fruit. Because the malts come from different distilleries and regions, it is more complex than you might expect from a blend, without the pronounced character of a single distillery. The brand is marketed by Boomsma from Leeuwarden.
In brief
Heather honey, fruit and full malt
Heather honey
Sweet heather honey with ripe fruit and the warm grain note of malted barley.
Full and fruity
Fuller and rounder than the regular blend, with honey and fruit taking center stage. The malt from three regions gives it layers.
Medium-length and soft
A soft, medium-length finish with honey and a light grain note.
Flavor profile of Glen Talloch 8 Years Blended Malt neat. On the rocks, the fruit becomes fresher and the honey less pronounced.
Three ways to drink Blended Malt
A blended malt is more versatile than an aged blend: delicious neat and sturdy enough for a cocktail.
Neat alongside smoked salmon
3 to 4 cl in a tasting glass, at room temperature, alongside a cracker with smoked salmon. The honey and fruit pair surprisingly well with the smoke and fat of the fish.
Glass: tasting glass →On the rocks
5 cl over one large ice cube in a heavy tumbler. The cold makes it fresher and brings out the fruit, while the malt retains enough body.
Whisky glasses →In a Paper Plane
Equal parts whisky, amaro, Aperol and lemon juice (22 ml each), shaken hard and served in a coupe. A full-bodied malt stands up to the bitterness and acidity.

With only malt in the bottle, these recipes have more grain and fruit than with an ordinary blend.

Paper Plane
Whisky, amaro, Aperol and lemon in equal parts. Fresh, bitter and surprisingly easy.
Boulevardier
Whisky, Campari and sweet vermouth. The whisky version of the Negroni, fuller and warmer.
Whisky Sour
Whisky, lemon, sugar and egg white. With a blended malt, it gains a honeyed depth.
Rusty Nail
Scotch with Drambuie over ice. The heather honey in the whisky pairs beautifully with the honey liqueur.More Glen Talloch flavours
