Malibu
The white bottle with the palm tree that tastes like summer. Everything about the alcohol content, flavors, Malibu with pineapple, the Piña Colada and the right glass to serve it in.

Caribbean rum with coconut, made for mixing
Malibu is a liqueur made from white Caribbean rum and coconut, with 21% alcohol. The brand was launched in 1982 with one goal: to make a Piña Colada easier. Instead of measuring rum and coconut cream separately, everything came in one bottle. The rum comes from Barbados, where Malibu is still made today.
With its low ABV and sweet coconut flavor, Malibu is the most approachable rum at the bar and a staple at summer parties. Besides the original, there are fruity flavors such as Strawberry and Watermelon, as well as ready-to-drink canned cocktails. Malibu has been part of Pernod Ricard since 2005.
In brief
What types of Malibu are there?

Malibu Coconut
The original: white rum with coconut in the iconic white bottle. Sweet, smooth and the basis of every Malibu cocktail.

Malibu Strawberry
Coconut rum with strawberry. Pink, sweet and fruity: delicious with lemonade or in a Strawberry Daiquiri.

Malibu Watermelon
Fresh watermelon alongside coconut. The most summery flavor, with soda or tonic and plenty of ice.

Malibu 1 liter
The large bottle for parties and the summer bar. More economical if you often serve Malibu pineapple.

Malibu 35 cl
The same coconut rum in a more convenient size. Handy for a picnic or for trying once.

Malibu Piña Colada
Ready-to-drink Piña Colada in a can: Malibu, pineapple and coconut. Serve chilled, optionally over ice.
Regular Malibu Coconut and a carton of pineapple juice are all you need to get through the summer.
Sweet, smooth and full of coconut
Fresh coconut & vanilla
Coconut right away, like a freshly opened coconut, with a hint of vanilla and sugar cane.
Sweet and creamy
Full and sweet, with coconut that lingers. You can barely taste the 21% alcohol, making it deceptively easy to drink.
Short and smooth
A short, sweet finish without any alcoholic heat. Calls for ice, juice or soda.
Flavor profile of Malibu Coconut. The flavored varieties are fruitier, the cans lighter and fresher.
Three ways to drink Malibu
Malibu was made for mixing. It is too sweet neat; with juice, soda or in a cocktail with plenty of ice, it is at its best.
Malibu pineapple
50 ml Malibu with 150 ml pineapple juice in a highball glass filled with ice. The simplest tropical cocktail there is; a slice of lime makes it fresher.
Glass: highball glass →Piña Colada
50 ml Malibu, 30 ml white rum, 90 ml pineapple juice and 30 ml coconut cream, blended with ice. Serve in a hurricane glass with a piece of pineapple.

50 ml Malibu with 150 ml cola in a tumbler or highball glass with ice. Coconut and cola: sweet, but surprisingly good. Also delicious with ginger ale.
